The last few weeks, Liam has been having these crying/screaming episodes that last for anywhere from 1 hour to 2 1/2 hours. He is completely inconsolable and has a look of agony on his face as he cries. We initially thought it was the formula we had just introduced. We are now starting to supplement a few ounces of formula a day, and the first day he had one of these 'episodes' was the first day he had a formula bottle. Because of the misery I obviously put him in, we decided to mix no more than 2 oz of formula with any bottle. We were hoping this would help the issue. Liam was great for about a week, then out of the blue, here comes the screaming fit again...no change with the feedings, but this time he hadn't pooped in about 2 days, so naturally, thats what we blamed it on. Then within the next week...he had more and more of these fits and and slowly stopped eating as much as he normally would eat. After he stopped eating normally and had a fit even though he had pooped, prompted me to call the pediatrician :( I made sure they knew that this was NOT normal for my happy little chunky fella. He hardly ever cries and he definitely does not only eat 3 oz at a time. They agreed it wasnt normal and asked us to come in the following morning. After extensive discussion about routines, diets, normal vs not normal, we came to the conclusion that my little love bucket has Reflux. He is also suffering from a small bout of constipation which doesn't help the reflux by any means, so we now have him on reflux medication 2x a day and 1 oz prune juice daily for a more regulated digestive system. WOW. We have been on the meds for 3 days and can already see an amazing difference. I would never have considered Liam winey or fussy, but compared to now, the old Liam was winey and fussy! haha He feels so much better and it shows. He has been more vocal and playful, making having him around even more of a blessing.
Here are a few pics of him at the doctors office. We go back next week for our 4 month checkup so I dont have all his stats from this visit, but they did take his weight......He is topping the scales at 17 lbs 3 ozs!!!! hahaha He still falls in the 90% range. He hasnt been under the 90% range since I was 18 weeks pregnant! LOL
